Pradelles-Cabard\u00e8s, een dorp aan de voet van de Pic de Nore en de Montagne Noire <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n

Het dorp Pradelles-Cabard\u00e8s ligt aan de voet van de Pic de Nore, met 1211 meter de hoogste top van de Montagne Noire<\/a>. Lange tijd, tot halverwege de 19e eeuw, stelde het klimaat van het dorp de inwoners in staat om de ijsmakerij voor de hele regio te ontwikkelen. <\/p>\n\n

De\nsneeuw van de sneeuwheuvels werd in ronde vormen gegoten en vervolgens samengeperst tot\n. Het blok werd vervolgens tot een hoogte van 1 meter bedekt met\nbeukenbladeren, die de eigenschap hebben dat ze rotbestendig zijn.<\/p>\n\n

In de zomer, wanneer ijs essentieel was voor de conservering, werd de koelbox geopend om de ijsblokken eruit te halen, die vervolgens op de “bourra” (een stuk jute doek) werden gelegd, die ook gevoerd was met beukenbladeren. Het geheel werd dan aan elkaar genaaid om het ijsbrood luchtdicht te maken voordat het werd afgeleverd of terug in de ijsdoos werd gedaan voor aflevering, wat ’s nachts gebeurde met een kar. <\/p>\n\n

De eerste persoon die op het idee kwam voor dit bedrijf was Pierre Piquemol in 1849\n. Hij kreeg al snel\nnavolging van een aantal lokale mensen en de ontwikkeling van deze industrie werd\nvoorspoedig. Het ijs bereikte de regio’s Narbonne en Carcassonne, maar ook\nen de regio’s Mazamet en Castres. Met de komst van de spoorwegen werd ijs van\nPradelles geleverd tot aan de grote steden in het zuidwesten. <\/p>\n\n

Dit bloeiende bedrijf\nging achteruit tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog, toen\npaarden en manschappen werden gevorderd, en stopte definitief in 1927.<\/p>\n\n

Tegenwoordig staan de\nijshuizen sinds 1986 op de monumentenlijst. <\/p>\n\n

Rond Pradelles-Cabard\u00e8s zijn verschillende\nbewegwijzerde routes uitgezet, waarvan sommige\nlangs de ijshuizen lopen.<\/p>\n\n

Tot slot mag je\nde 14e-eeuwse kerk Saint-Jean-Baptiste niet missen. De oorspronkelijke architectuur\nbestaat uit een vijfzijdige apsis, een schip met vier\ntravee\u00ebn en zes zijkapellen. De klokkentoren is achthoekig. <\/p>\n\n

Een heerlijk dagje uit tijdens je verblijf op camping Le martinet rouge<\/a>. Je kunt picknicken in het speciale gebied rond het meer van Pradelles. <\/p>\n\n
